Set in Kalamaria, a coastal district of Thessaloniki, this 120 sq.m. maisonette renovation explores domestic space through softness, continuity, and material depth. The project reimagines the existing residence as a contemporary living environment where spatial fluidity and tactile materiality become the primary design drivers.

The intervention focuses on redefining the interior architecture through a carefully orchestrated sequence of spaces. Public areas are conceived as an open spatial landscape, where living, dining, and kitchen functions unfold seamlessly into one another. Rather than relying on rigid boundaries, the design employs curved geometries, framed openings, and custom-built elements to establish subtle transitions between zones, creating a sense of movement throughout the home.

A restrained palette of warm neutrals forms the visual foundation of the project. Soft plaster-like textures, natural wood veneers, stone-inspired surfaces, and matte finishes interact to produce a layered yet calm atmosphere. Sculptural details — from the ceiling compositions to bespoke joinery and integrated lighting — introduce rhythm and depth, while reinforcing the architectural language of the interior.

The living space is defined by generous volumes and a deliberate balance between softness and structure. Curved wall details and recessed lighting transform the ceiling into an active architectural surface, while custom millwork introduces visual continuity and functional precision. Light becomes a spatial material in itself, accentuating textures and shaping perception throughout the day.

In the private quarters, the design shifts toward a more intimate scale. The master bedroom is conceived as a quiet retreat, where textured surfaces, reflective planes, and symmetrical compositions evoke a serene, almost hospitality-inspired atmosphere. The secondary bedroom introduces a softer, playful expression through pastel tones and graphic textiles, while maintaining the overall coherence of the project’s design language.

The result is a residence that moves beyond conventional renovation, proposing a contemporary domestic experience rooted in spatial clarity, sensory richness, and understated elegance.
