Metallico, an impressive apartment on the seafront of Thessaloniki, manages to balance between a contemporary minimalist design approach and pop aesthetics.
Apostolos Papavasileiou, a civil engineer architect and holder of a Master of Arts on Lighting design, loves to experiment with light. His new architectural project, Metallico, an apartment in a multi-story building dating back to the 1960s and located on the seafront of Thessaloniki, stands out uniquely thanks to his design skills.
The lighting study played a crucial role in the final result of the interior design, which, in this particular project, was an integral part of the architectural composition from its early stages. With the orientation of the apartment being southwest, large openings were placed towards this axis. Thus, they facilitated the natural sunlight of the interior. In many points of the study, the concept of artificial lighting was incorporated with uniformity or dynamism, depending on the use and function of each space of the apartment.
An important feature of Metallico’s architectural design was the application of innovative construction details. Characteristic examples are the revolving panels with mirrors that run throughout the height of the apartment, creating a wonderful play of reflections and offering the ability to adjust the space according to the needs and preferences of the residents.
