The specific architectural study concerns the total renovation of a three-story apartment building from the 70s in the area of Kalamaria, eastern Thessaloniki. The architectural study deals not only with the renovation of the exterior and interior spaces of the apartment building, but also with the design – addition of an additional floor, as well as the addition of an exterior elevator with metal structure and glass cage.

In the context of the architectural study, particular emphasis was placed on the design of dynamic aspects of the building shell, as well as on the design of an imposing fence with impressive entrances to the plot of the apartment building and from the two streets between which the apartment building is located.

Modern cladding and facade construction materials were used such as painted aluminum blinds, balustrade glass panels, but play with the volumes of the building was also achieved with the use of 8 cm thermal facade. The color tones chosen for this particular project were earth tones with terracotta as the main color choice, which were applied both to metal elements and to the exterior walls of the apartment building.

The lighting study carried out as part of the architectural study aimed to highlight special points of the apartment building with the use of recessed ceramic spots, hidden lighting in false ceilings, but also to highlight the plantings on the perimeter of the plot and the lighting of accesses to cover safety in the environment area of the building using appropriate lighting fixtures.
